Swallowtail
The Hovering Menace
Swallowtail is a boss in New Herland District that constantly hovers in midair. Melee characters often whiff attacks, making ranged options or Parry Attack knockdowns essential for reliable damage.
Attack Patterns
Swallowtail’s defining characteristic is that it constantly hovers in midair, making it difficult for melee-focused characters to connect attacks reliably.
Aerial Attacks
While airborne, Swallowtail launches various projectile and dive attacks. These come from above, requiring different dodge timing than ground-based bosses. The dive attacks are parryable — successfully parrying a dive knocks Swallowtail to the ground, creating the best damage window in the fight.
Grounded State (After Knockdown)
When knocked down via Parry Attack, Swallowtail remains on the ground for several seconds. This is the primary window for melee characters to deal sustained damage. All burst abilities and Ultimates should be saved for these knockdown windows.
Strategy
| Priority | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Use Parry Attack on dive attacks to knock Swallowtail to the ground |
| 2 | Burst with Ultimates and skills during knockdown windows |
| 3 | Use Vita Bud homing ranged attacks while boss is airborne |
| 4 | Bring at least one ranged character for consistent aerial damage |
Recommended Team
Anima characters with ranged capabilities work best:
- Nanally + Jiuyuan + Mint — Nanally’s ranged Anima attacks hit airborne targets reliably
- Jiuyuan + Mint + Ranged Flex — Jiuyuan for burst during knockdowns, ranged flex for aerial phase
